Paver Patio Installation in Orange County, NY

Paver patios installed on a properly built base, so the surface is still flat after five winters instead of rippled and lipped.

Most paver failures are base failures

A paver patio that ripples, develops lipped edges you catch a toe on, or settles at one corner didn’t fail because of the paver. It failed because of what’s underneath it.

Around here, the base has to handle ground that freezes and thaws repeatedly through the winter and soil that holds water rather than shedding it. A base that wasn’t excavated deep enough or compacted properly will move, and by year three you can see it.

How we install

  • Excavation to the depth the soil and use require: a patio base and a driveway base are not the same depth
  • Compaction in lifts, not one pass over loose fill
  • Proper edge restraint so the outer courses don’t creep outward
  • Drainage and pitch designed so water leaves the surface and doesn’t undermine the base
  • Polymeric joint sand to lock the field and slow weed growth

What we build

Simple rectangular patios, multi-level spaces stepping down a slope, patios integrated with seating walls and fire features, and pool surrounds. If the design calls for a retaining wall to make the space work, we build that too, one crew, one point of contact, no coordinating between trades.

The part customers actually mention

Read our reviews and site cleanup comes up nearly as often as the stonework. When we’re finished, the yard is left the way you’d want it, not with a pile of excavated material and pallet banding to deal with yourself.

Paver Patios questions we get

How much does a paver patio cost?

Site conditions move the number more than square footage does: access for equipment, existing grade, drainage needs, and material choice. A quote built on a per-square-foot number before anyone has seen the site is a number that changes later. We walk it first and give you a written price.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward patio is typically three to five working days. Multi-level patios, patios with seating walls or fire features, and sites needing significant excavation run longer.

Can you build a patio on a sloped yard?

Yes, and it's common around Cornwall and Monroe. Creating a level patio on a sloped lot usually means a retaining wall and excavation, and that supporting work is typically most of the project, even though the patio is what you see.

Will pavers shift or sink over time?

Not if the base is right. Movement is a base problem, essentially always. We excavate to depth, compact in lifts, and use proper edge restraint so the field stays tight.

Can pavers go over an existing concrete slab?

Sometimes, if the slab is sound, drains properly, and the added height doesn't cause problems at doors and thresholds. If the slab is cracked or holding water, overlaying it just moves the problem up an inch.

What our customers say

"We just had work done by Krafft's Lawn and Landscape. It was a fairly big job, and we were thrilled with the results. When we called, Ryan came out within 24 hours and did a thorough inspection of the site. He listened intently to what we wanted to do and actually heard us. He then gave us a quote for exactly what we needed, at a very fair price. The work they did was thorough and exact, and when they were done, the clean-up was the best we've ever had. They treated our yard like it was their own. Overall, a perfect job, a fair price, with responsive and honest people. They'll be our first choice when we need more work done."

"What a great experience all around!! We had a ~100 ft run of not-so-easy-to-replace fence to replace, rocky space, thru a tree, and dodging limby shrubs, with elevation change. They took care of the permitting for us! and they did a super clean demo and haul away. Setting the new fencing was truly impressive to watch, they took great pains to make sure each section was square, plumb, and level. Really nice work! We love it! We will never hesitate to work with Ryan & Co. again!! Highly recommended!"

"Ryan and the Krafft team did structural and landscaping work for us to mitigate leaking into our basement from torrential rains. The foundation, yard, and sidewalk work they did was top-notch. Bottom line: great work, great price, and great people. They are trustworthy and I'll work with them again for our next project."
