Pavers
Front walks, garden paths, and stone steps that stay level and safe through the winter.
A patio gets used on nice weekends. A front walk gets walked on by everyone who comes to your house, in the dark, in the rain, carrying groceries. It’s the hardscape element where settling and heaving matter most, because the consequence is someone catching a toe.
Walkways get the same treatment as our patio work: excavation to depth, compaction in lifts, edge restraint, and drainage. A walk is narrower, which means it has less margin for error: a small amount of differential settlement is very noticeable across a four-foot width.
If the walk is used after dark, and most are, it’s worth planning path lighting while the walk is being built rather than retrofitting it later. We’ll raise it during the quote if it makes sense for your route.

Wide enough for two people side by side is the usual guidance, typically four feet or more for a main entry walk. Garden paths can be narrower. We'll talk through how you actually use the route before settling it.
Same principle, and it matters just as much. A walk that heaves creates a trip hazard right where people walk to your front door, which is a worse outcome than a patio doing the same thing.
Yes, stone steps and stepped walkways are common around Cornwall and Highland Falls where the grade demands it. Getting rise and run consistent is what makes them feel safe underfoot, and it's where rushed work shows immediately.
"We just had work done by Krafft's Lawn and Landscape. It was a fairly big job, and we were thrilled with the results. When we called, Ryan came out within 24 hours and did a thorough inspection of the site. He listened intently to what we wanted to do and actually heard us. He then gave us a quote for exactly what we needed, at a very fair price. The work they did was thorough and exact, and when they were done, the clean-up was the best we've ever had. They treated our yard like it was their own. Overall, a perfect job, a fair price, with responsive and honest people. They'll be our first choice when we need more work done."
"What a great experience all around!! We had a ~100 ft run of not-so-easy-to-replace fence to replace, rocky space, thru a tree, and dodging limby shrubs, with elevation change. They took care of the permitting for us! and they did a super clean demo and haul away. Setting the new fencing was truly impressive to watch, they took great pains to make sure each section was square, plumb, and level. Really nice work! We love it! We will never hesitate to work with Ryan & Co. again!! Highly recommended!"
"Ryan and the Krafft team did structural and landscaping work for us to mitigate leaking into our basement from torrential rains. The foundation, yard, and sidewalk work they did was top-notch. Bottom line: great work, great price, and great people. They are trustworthy and I'll work with them again for our next project."
